Okay, my friend was going out with a guy who was a christian but he was a seventh day avangilist (sp?) and he was telling me why they have church on saturdays not sundays and he asked me, "Why do you go to church on sunday." I said "because its the saboth" to which he responded, "where does it say that sunday is the saboth"
This made me think...hm...satureday is the seventh day on a calender...
so after thinking about if for like a week I came up with the fact that when Jesus came he got rid of the saboth in order to make every day holy and made for God.
What do you guys think about the day of the saboth?

To be honest, I just don't care. I'll just stick to Sunday like everyone else does.

Yeah, I do to, but I can see their point although I doubt it matters what day on our modern calender it is.

Saturday IS actually, the original Sabbath, we discussed it in Religious Education. However, like with Christmas, it was added to Christianity and altered it.
Yes, you heard me. Original Christians did not celebrate Christmas. It only came about when a pagan Winter festival was blended with the idea.
Oh, and you can only celebrate festivals after making peace with those you argue with.
That's God's law!

Yeah, but the day of the sabath really isn't important any more because Jesus got rid of it in order to make every day for God. But I think we should still have a day to relax and replinish our selves regardless of wheither its on saturday or sunday.
Yeah, I know about christimas because its not acctually christ's birthday, and santa clause is based on a Saint who was known for his giving nature and his deep faith in the Lord.
And yep, your right about the only celebrating after making up with people you've argued with because God doesn't want us holding on to such things. We weren't made to hold grudges.

Santa Clause is based on two people. Saint Nicolas, the Turk who gave presents to the children, and who also particularly helped this man from Scandinavia, who wore red and white clothes based on the mushrooms found there. The red and white colour was not very popular, but the green one was killed off eventually by the Coca Cola adverts.

My youth pastor confirmed the idea that the saboth was on Saturday not Sunday. But it still doesn't really matter. We still need the rest, but stoping everything is no longer required on the saboth. Church on Sunday mornings is really just for the benifit of the church goers who wish to join in the fellowship of the church body.
