So a common theme I've seen in my friends' lives, in my life is the questions of why God lets certain things happen to simingly good people. Why such a small amount of people go to heaven if God has so much power. And since I am a firm believer that you can only grow stronger in your faith by questioning it, lets question it. Any answers you come up with, share them here.
I've been praying about it alot lately and I've got a few verses about it. (I think God's word is the best place to find his answers) Note: I use a new living translation if it interests you at all.
Ecclesiastes 8:16-9:1
'In my search for wisdom, I tried to obseve everything that goes on all across the earth. I discovered that there is ceaseless activity, day and night. This reminded me that no on can discover everything God has created in our world, no matterhow hard they work at it. Not even the wisest people know everything, even if they say they do.
This too, I carefully explored:even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God's hands, no one knows whether or not God will show them favor in this life.'
The first section of Ecclesiates chapter 2 is really good, I don't want to type it all out though. The futility of Pleasure
Proverbs 14:12 (or 16:25)
'There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.'
What I've gathered from these passages and other passages I've read but didn't right down was that there is pain because even though on the surface they look good, they seem to bear good fruit, their heart might not be in it.
Most of us are decived by the 'pretty paths' that look so much eaiser, but led us nowhere. We chase after temporary pleasures that will melt away and leave (even when they're there) an empty void to be filled. And also this passage comes to mind:
Isaiah 55:8-9
' "My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the Lord. "and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. for jsut as the heavens are highter than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." '
Maybe we simply weren't ment to understand or aren't capable of understanding.
